Job summary

ŌURA in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer – Battery to deliver end-to-end manufacturing and process solutions for battery systems powering ŌURA’s rings. You will drive cell-to-pack integration and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 3+ years in battery manufacturing, experience with Li-ion/Li-polymer, and ability to travel up to 15%. Hybrid work in SF Bay Area with 2-3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in battery or electromechanical manufacturing in a supplier/engineering role.
• Experience with lithium-ion/Li-polymer cell design, fabrication, or pack assembly.
• Experience qualifying manufacturing processes from NPI to Mass Production.
• Experience bringing up automated battery assembly lines and equipment.
• Ability to analyze failure modes and identify root causes.
• Familiarity with safety/regulatory standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642/2054) is a plus.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Effective communication with leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Define best-in-class battery cell, assembly, and integration processes to meet design, safety, and operational requirements.
• Partner with Battery/Electrical Engineers, Quality Engineers, Material Engineers, and Product Designers to optimize cell design and manufacturing processes.
• Identify, research, develop, and qualify battery cell suppliers, pack assemblers, and automation equipment manufacturers.
• Lead new battery assembly line and automation bring-up—from equipment specification to production ramp.
• Drive suppliers globally to establish and optimize cell fabrication, assembly, and pack integration processes.
• Use data to drive process decisions and influence product and industrial design.
