Job summary

the company is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer - Battery in the San Francisco Bay Area for end-to-end manufacturing and process solutions across battery cells, assembly, and pack integration. This hybrid role requires close collaboration with engineers and designers to meet safety, cost, and reliability goals.

You will lead new line and automation bring-up, qualify suppliers worldwide, and use data to drive decisions on cell dimensions and specifications. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in battery or electromechanical manufacturing as a supplier/manufacturing engineer.
• Experience with lithium-ion/LiPo cell design, fabrication, and/or battery pack assembly.
• Experience qualifying manufacturing processes from NPI to Mass Production.
• Experience bringing up automated battery assembly lines and equipment.
• Ability to analyze failure modes and identify root causes.
• Familiarity with battery safety and regulatory standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642/2054) a plus.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Define best-in-class battery cell, assembly, and integration processes meeting design, safety, and operational requirements.
• Partner with Battery/Electrical, Quality, Material, and Product Designers to optimize cell design and manufacturing for energy density and reliability.
• Identify, research, and qualify battery cell suppliers, pack assemblers, and automation equipment manufacturers.
• Lead new battery assembly line and automation bring-up from equipment spec to production ramp.
• Drive suppliers globally to optimize battery fabrication and integration, ensuring quality and resolving issues.
