Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Towson, MD is seeking a Safety Assurance Manager – Battery Systems to lead investigations into product safety and oversee regulatory compliance for lithium-ion battery systems and chargers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years in design, development, testing, quality, or manufacturing of power tools, battery packs, chargers, or related products.
• Deep knowledge of lithium-ion systems, BMS, charging methods, and cell protection.
• Hands-on electrical analysis, testing, and validation of battery systems and chargers.
• Experience with safety standards such as UL/IEC/UN38.3 and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee investigations into product safety issues and manage escalation.
• Represent the company in industry groups, standards committees, and regulatory agencies.
• Review manuals, packaging, warnings, and marketing materials for safety and compliance.
• Provide guidance on safety standards for design, testing, and quality assurance.
• Assist with compliance with ISO, CE, UL, UN38.3 and related standards.
• Support claims and litigation management including expert testimony and depositions.
