Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is hiring a Battery & Propulsion HIL Engineer for a hybrid role based in Milford, MI, working 3-4 days on site per week. You will design and maintain hardware-in-the-loop environments to validate embedded controllers for battery, electrification, engine, and powertrain systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software or Computer)
• 4+ years of experience in design of models with controls theory and with real time simulation
• 4+ years of experience in HIL design, troubleshooting and integration
• 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering
• 1+ years of experience in applying DFSS tools and methodologies to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with software development, calibration, and validation stakeholders to identify solutions to customer needs.
• Create and maintain simulation models for test environments (plant, sensors, actuators, serial data, and controller models).
• Design HIL benches including harness design, power requirements, and ECU integration; ISO SPI, CAN, INCA.
• Apply Agile principles and DFSS tools; incorporate Lean thinking into processes as a HIL Engineer.
• Collaborate with test environment users to root-cause issues and resolve test results.
• Plan and coordinate test environment strategy and model/hardware rollouts.
