Job summary

General Motors in Milford, Michigan seeks a Battery & Propulsion HIL Engineer to create hardware-in-the-loop environments validating embedded controllers for battery, electrification, engine and powertrain systems, using dSpace Simulink and Simscape. You will design HIL benches and harnesses, wiring, ECUs and power for the HIL bench to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software or Computer)
• 4+ years of experience in design of models with controls theory and with real time simulation
• 4+ years of experience in HIL design, troubleshooting and integration
• 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering
• 1+ years of experience in applying DFSS tools and methodologies to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Work with software development, calibration, and validation stakeholders to identify solutions.
• Create and maintain simulation models for test environments (plant, sensors/actuators, serial data communication, controller models).
• Design HIL benches including harness design and power requirements; integrate ECMs; understand ISO SPI, CAN tools, and INCA.
• Apply Agile and Lean principles to daily processes as a HIL Engineer.
• Root-cause issues with test environments and address unexpected test results.
• Plan and coordinate test environment strategies and model/hardware rollouts.
• Support HIL benches and automated tools.
• Share common models and simulation assets across test environment domains.
