Job summary

Saft is seeking an experienced machine operator for the Fill and Formation Department in Maryland. You will operate PLC-controlled machinery, use calibrated tools, and assist with filling battery cells with electrolyte.

You will also run test scripts via manufacturing software to ensure quality. The role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work across first, second, or third shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical field training preferred.
• Basic computer skills with Excel and database usage.
• 2 years manufacturing experience preferably running machinery.
• Ability to comprehend written instructions and document results clearly.
• Experience running machinery/test equipment and producing high quality products.
• Organizational skills and clean workstation to optimize flow.
• Able to work with energized cells and understand electrical circuits (voltage/current/impedance).
• Experience using basic hand tools including torque tools and electrical meters.
• Keen eye for detail to notice variances affecting quality.
• Clear communication of machine/product issues to all management levels.
• Reliable, autonomous or team worker.
• Strong problem-solving to diagnose and fix equipment issues.
• Willingness to rapidly learn assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production and test equipment using process documents and written instructions.
• Set up and operate filling equipment, temperature chambers, and other test equipment.
• Maintain a clean, 6S compliant work area and equipment.
• Inspect product conformance by visual inspection and electrical performance review.
• Follow written and verbal instructions and organize multiple duties.
• Aim to perform all department tasks with the necessary energy and proficiency.
