Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part-time basketball referee to enforce High School rules with a few modifications during YMCA league games at the Center Staff location. You will handle scorekeeping, stat sheets, and scoreboard as needed, arriving 15 minutes early for each shift.

The role requires IAABO certification with at least 2 years of experience, a valid CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and safety for

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment; referees must maintain these trainings.
• IAABO Certified Basketball official with at least 2 yrs experience (proof required).
• Knowledge of the High School Basketball rules of Massachusetts.
• Be able to work Score, Stat sheets and a scoreboard if asked.

Responsibilities

• Work score, stat sheets and scoreboard if needed.
• Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled time.
• Receives and follows detailed instructions.
• Must be capable of working under pressure.
• Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional and tactful manner.
• Assist with the set-up of the gym before games and the cleanup.
• Ensure a safe and positive experience.
• Work closely with the league coordinator to ensure the league runs smoothly.
