Job summary

City of Eureka is seeking a Recreation Official to officiate men's basketball and supervise related activities at local facilities. This entry-to-intermediate level role requires directing players and coaches, enforcing game rules, and maintaining safety and order during evening and weekend games.

The position is temporary, part-time, with duties including setup, equipment management, and facility cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Ability to communicate rules clearly to players and coaches.
• Knowledge of sport rules and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct players and coaches, enforce all game rules and assist in completing accident/incident reports and other necessary forms.
• Communicate with participants concerning rules and sportsmanship.
• Ensure participants are registered for respective teams, keeps official score of games, if applicable.
• Open and close assigned recreational facility; secure, maintain and clean facility; prepare program sites for various programs and activities, including setting up and taking down equipment.
• Complete ongoing maintenance tasks such as; ensuring equipment is in good working order, maintain and stock bathrooms as necessary.
• Assist in compliance with relevant health and safety laws and guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
