Job summary

The City of Eureka seeks a Recreation Official to officiate and supervise basketball and related programs. This entry/mid-level position focuses on directing players and coaches, enforcing rules, and maintaining records for games at Adorni Center and other facilities.

Responsibilities include site setup, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and clear communication with participants. Work is evening/weekend oriented in a part-time capacity within the Recreation Division.

Qualifications

• Experience officiating various sports programs or closely related program.
• Participation in similar programming through school or community programs.
• Volunteer service in related programs.
• Experience providing responsible customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct players and coaches, enforce all game rules and assist in completing accident/incident reports and other necessary forms.
• Communicate with participants concerning rules and sportsmanship.
• Ensure participants are registered for respective teams, keeps official score of games, if applicable.
• Open and close assigned recreational facility; secure, maintain and clean facility; prepare program sites for various programs and activities, including setting up and taking down equipment.
• Complete ongoing maintenance tasks such as; ensuring equipment is in good working order, maintain and stock bathrooms as necessary.
• Assist in compliance with relevant health and safety laws and guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
