Overview
Provide services and support as a Basic PR/SERE Instructor (SERE and Personnel Recovery) for Defense and Security Sector clients including USSOCOM, MARFORSOC, and MRTC. Location is primarily Camp Lejeune, NC and the Southeastern United States/U.S. East Coast region. Contract type: Exempt 1099 or Contract Contingent with potential conversion to W-2.
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, review, and deliver the required POI techniques, tactics, and procedures for all course material.
- Coordinate pre-course planning: schedules, training areas, and materials for all training events.
- Develop and deliver Code of Conduct, PR principles and procedures, worldwide survival and evasion TTPs, resistance and escape POIs, ARLs, RTLs, and field training exercises depicting simulated captivity situations.
- Provide PR/SERE training across the spectrum of military operations, including wartime, peacetime detention, and hostage scenarios, as required for each iteration.
- Provide written/verbal assessments and student reviews to support coaching, mentoring, and remediation.
- Generate and administer staff and event evaluations, AARs, and training reports.
- Coordinate FSLC course recovery activities with staff and PTOC personnel.
- Assist in developing and training newly assigned Contractor, Active Duty, and DoD Civ personnel; support refresher training per MARFORSOC SOP and COR/Command requirements.
- Assist in developing new concepts and doctrine for the MARFORSOC PR/SERE Course; stay current on capabilities to improve training and SME development.
- Analyze course content and adult learning trends; recommend POI improvements; apply regulations and field manuals to conduct PR/SERE training.
- Perform Range Safety Officer (RSO) duties in support of PR/SERE.
- Complete MARFORSOC PR/SERE CUIT and ITS upon hire to meet basic instructor rating requirements.
Qualifications
- NAVMC 1553.2 Appendix D HRTI qualifications and DoD Full Spectrum Level “C” (FSLC) SERE or equivalent.
- 3+ years U.S. military service (general discharge or better); SECRET clearance; eligibility to progress to higher instructor tiers.
- Graduate of an approved DoD FSLC SERE course or equivalent (e.g., SERE 211/215/225) or willing to complete the MARFORSOC PR/SERE FSLC SERE course (DD214-listed or equivalent).
- Must meet High Risk Training Instructor requirements as dictated by Navy and Marine Corps (NAVMC 1553.2, Appendix D).
Work Site & Location
Initially Camp Lejeune, NC 28542; locations across the Southeastern United States/U.S. East Coast. Example work site: BLG 1116, Sneads Ferry, NC 28547-8368. Supported commands include USSOCOM, MARFORSOC, and MRTC.

- All SERE contractor personnel must accomplish MARFORSOC PR/SERE CUIT and ITS on hire.
