Job summary

UPS in Baton Rouge is hiring a Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanic to maintain and troubleshoot a highly automated hub. The role supports 24x7 operations across first, second, and third shifts, focusing on electrical and control systems to minimize downtime.

You will work with PLCs, HMIs, encoders, and photoeyes, performing repairs on AC/DC equipment, motors, drives, and conveyors. The position includes hands-on weld/fabrication and preventive maintenance responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Must have strong electrical and controls background.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, encoders, and photoeyes for fault isolation.
• Able to troubleshoot automated material handling and sortation systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair high-speed automated material handling and sortation systems in a fully automated hub environment.
• Apply working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, encoders, and photoeyes to identify, isolate, and resolve system faults.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical equipment including VFDs, relays, motors, and sensors.
• Inspect, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, conveyors, bearings, and pulleys.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on conveyors and automated equipment.
• Weld and fabricate equipment as defined by scope of work.
