Job summary

Smart Building Technologies, A Fidelity Company in Owings Mills, MD is seeking a BAS/Controls Technician & Programmer to join our team. You will plan commissioning, inspect components, test systems, and integrate controls with HVAC infrastructure.

You will collaborate with engineers and operators, document processes, train staff, and develop custom control strategies. The role rewards hands-on problem solving, growth, and exposure to state-of-the-art building automation technologies.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in HVAC or DDC systems.
  • Deep understanding of BAS control components and strategies.
  • Experience with programming control sequences and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan & Prepare: develop commissioning plans with designers and engineers.
  • Inspect & Verify: perform pre-installation checks for all components.
  • Test & Troubleshoot: conduct functional testing and fix issues.
  • Integrate & Optimize: ensure seamless control integration with HVAC systems.
  • Document & Educate: document processes and train operators.
  • Program & Innovate: craft custom control strategies and software.
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve: diagnose and resolve system issues.
  • Collaborate & Lead: work with engineers, technicians, and PMs.

What we hope you bring to the table:

Experience:3-5 years in an industry-related field, including HVAC Systems and DDC Systems

Know-How:Deep understanding of BAS control components, control strategies, and programming.

Software Proficiency:Tridium Certification and Distech experience would be a plus, but not a requirement.

What you’ll do:

Plan & Prepare:Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop comprehensive commissioning plans that capture every detail and nuance of our sophisticated control systems.

Inspect & Verify:Conduct rigorous pre-installation checks and inspections to ensure that every component is perfect before it’s put into place.

Test & Troubleshoot:Perform in-depth functional testing to verify that every control system operates precisely as designed, identifying, and resolving any issues with finesse.

Integrate & Optimize:Ensure seamless integration of control components with overall HVAC systems, optimizing performance and efficiency for peak operation.

Document & Educate:Meticulously document every step of the commissioning process and provide hands-on training to operators, ensuring they’re fully equipped to maintain top-tier system performance.

Program & Innovate:Craft custom control strategies and software programs that push the boundaries of what our systems can achieve.

Troubleshoot & Resolve:Diagnose issues and implement effective solutions to ensure seamless system operation.

Collaborate & Lead:Work alongside a dynamic team of engineers, technicians, and project managers to bring visionary projects to life.

Base Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 - Commensurate with experience. This range represents a general guideline; however, several factors are considered when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
