Job summary

The Maya in Long Beach is seeking an experienced Bartender to maintain beverage service standards and deliver world-class service to guests. Responsibilities

• Present menu and take beverage orders from guests and staff.
• Clean bars, work areas, glasses, utensils and bar equipment.
• Maintain a safe facility and safety-first practices to stay accident-free.
• Knowledge of spirits, beer, wine by the glass, and coffee/tea options.
• Create drink recipes and maintain menu knowledge; operate the POS system.
• Ensure tips are reported properly for tax processing.
• Monitor for responsible service and notify management of potential concerns.
• Maintain presence behind the bar and support a safe work environment.
• Provide personable, high-quality guest interaction.

The Maya - Bartender

The Maya is currently seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and service oriented Bartender to maintain the property beverage service standards and deliver world class service to all our guests. Fuego at The Maya has a reimagined space and refreshed menu bringing a new energy to the Long Beach waterfront. This role will assist with creating a memorable experience for all who visit our very special location.

Responsibilities

• Present menu and answer questions and take food and beverage orders from guests and/or serving staff.
• Clean bars work areas and tables as well as glasses utensils and bar equipment.
• Maintain a safe facility and use safety first practices to remain accident-free.
• Has a working knowledge of the wine list, and all beverages served: spirits, beers, wines by-the-glass, after dinner drinks, non-alcoholic offerings and coffee & tea options.
• Knowledge of spirits/beer selection.
• Create drink recipes.
• Has full knowledge and understanding of the menu. Understands the operation of the POS system.
• Ensures tips are reported properly for tax processing.
• Attempts to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as discontinuing alcohol service and notifying management of potential concerns
• Maintains presence behind the bar.
• Support safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times.
• Clean and wipe chairs, tables, beverage area, and bar area.
• Personable and great people skills.

Work Environment:

• Ability to multi-task and handle high pressure situations.
• Requires the ability to lift and carry object weighing up to 35 pounds. Occasional lifting of 45 lbs. or more (tables, kegs, chairs).
• Walk or stand for carrying lengths or time, sometimes for extended periods of time of 6+ hours.
