  • Maintain a positive, friendly bar presence and professional appearance.
  • Open and stock bar areas, ensure neat setup and functioning equipment.
  • Greet guests, provide menus, upsell specials, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Serve drinks promptly, manage cashiering, and handle payments accurately.
  • Monitor guest intoxication, card IDs, and handle closing procedures per policy.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and participate in ongoing training.

Bartender, Horse & Plow

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite– Kohler, WI

Personal Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive and friendly outlook
  • Bartenders should be enthusiastic and ambitious about their job
  • Problems should be left at home
  • Performance should reflect a healthy and positive attitude
  • Always maintain suitable appearance and uniform for this position (according to the grooming and uniform policy)
  • Uniform must be cleaned and pressed
  • Hair must be cleaned and styled in an appropriate manner
  • Basic hygiene must be adhered to
Opening Duties
  • Arrive on time and ready for work
  • Accurately complete all assigned side-work for opening of the bar (according to the side-work sheet)
  • Stock all areas of the bar (according to the bar-stock sheet)
  • Do weekly side-work duties (according to the weekly side-work sheet)
  • Complete opening cashiering responsibilities
  • Ensure that the appearance of the bar is neat, clean, attractive, and that all equipment is functioning
Guest Relations

These responsibilities, if excellently fulfilled, can achieve the result that the guest is satisfied and lets us know by comments, return business, and/or gratuities

  • Acknowledge guests/servers. Guests should be acknowledged in less than two minutes
  • Provide information on other hospitality facilities, the local area, and directions for guests
  • Provide menus and inform guests of specials, entertainment, etc.
  • Stay aware of current events, news, and sports
  • Create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere and mood at the bar (lights are dim in the evening)
  • Answer the phone in a professional manner
  • Offer courtesy gestures
  • Go above the expectations of the guest (offer additional services and recognize special events)
Service

Level of performance should be the same regardless of who is being served

  • Combine set-up and guest relation’s responsibilities with service. To successfully conduct this position’s basic function, these related responsibilities must be completed with excellence and incorporated into a toil service concept

Serving guests and server station

  • Drinks are served within three minutes of ordering
  • Tickets do not build up
  • A comfortable working relationship is maintained with co-workers, free of agitation and inconsistent service
  • Drinks contain proper proportions, with attractive appearance and presentation
  • Quality of drinks is consistent
  • Drinks are always served with a napkin
  • Clean ashtrays (should be cleaned after one butt)
  • Continually monitor bar and bar area to see that guests are cared for. There should be no complaints about service or lack of it.
  • If host/hostess are not present or not scheduled it is your job to acknowledge the guest and seat them if necessary
Cashiering
  • Follow proper guidelines for setting up bank. Each bank has $300.00. Bank should have enough change to last through shift.
  • Follow proper procedures for ringing cash, checks, and charges immediately and accurately according to procedures. Ensure no checks are left open at the end of the shift.
  • Give correct change and tips according to procedures
Trouble Shooting

All procedures are to be followed promptly and accurately according to the training manual, minimizing conflicts

  • Monitoring guests
  • Cutting off guests who are intoxicated
  • Carding guests for proper identification
  • Security problems
  • Micros breakdowns
  • Taps, soda, and CO2 changing
Closing Procedures
  • Be sure last call is given at proper time every night, all guests have left the property at the designated time, there are no disturbances. Last call is 30 minutes prior to closing unless a special function is taking place or guests are still in the restaurant dining. DRINKS MAY NOT BE SERVED PAST THE LEGAL TIME REQUIRMENTS AS STATED BY WISCONSIN LAW
  • Complete all assigned closing side-work (check side-worksheet) Bar should be left neat and clean and ready for next shift
  • Fill out requisition form for replacement of alcohol and beverages. Empty alcohol bottles should be left with requisition form. A full bottle is only issued upon receipt of an empty bottle
  • Obtain permission from the manager on duty before leaving venue
  • Have trash removed at the end of the evening
Staff Meetings
  • Be present and prompt at all mandatory staff meetings. Every meeting should be attended with enthusiasm
  • Offer constructive ideas for improvements, problem solving, and continued training

This is a casual part-time position working weekends and weekdays. Hours vary between 9:00 am - 11:00 pm.

Skills/Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Previous bartending experience is preferred

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

The hourly range for this position is $9.80 - $14.70 plus tips/gratuity. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
