Job summary

The Virginia Guesthouse, opening April 2026 on the Grounds of the University of Virginia, is seeking a highly motivated bartender to deliver memorable hospitality from greeting to departure. You will engage guests, guide their beverage journey, and work closely with a dynamic team to maintain bar setup and stock.

We value mixology knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Current bartenders’ certification or appropriate license.
• Knowledgeable in the latest trends around mixology.
• Descriptive and able to sell.
• 2–4 years of bartender experience.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails and spirits.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests at the bar and maintain daily bar setup.
• Guide guests on their beverage journey through menu descriptions.
• Take accurate orders and confirm special requests.
• Collaborate with servers and kitchen/bar staff.
• Ensure timely and accurate bill presentation.
• Stock and rotate beverages, garnishes, and perishables daily.
• Input orders into POS systems and manage checks.
