Job description

Job Summary

To serve beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. Prepare beverages for other servers and act as a lounge cashier.

Essential Job Functions

This is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The job description may not include all duties or qualifications required now or in the future. The hotel operates 24/7, so shifts may vary.

  1. Greet guests courteously, promote and document drink orders, mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes and portion controls.
  2. Maintain daily bar setup, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, condiments, and produce based on daily projections.
  3. Manage stock, cutting, and storing of fresh fruit, vegetables, juices, and perishables to ensure quality.
  4. Handle cash transactions, verify charges, record transactions, and balance cash drawers.
  5. Secure beverages, food, and equipment, deposit cash drops, and secure the bank.
  6. Answer the bar phone promptly, take room service orders accurately, input into the POS system, and create checks to maintain accountability.
  7. Perform cleaning tasks using standard products to adhere to health standards.
  8. Follow all company policies, safety, and security procedures, including emergency protocols and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  9. Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per the team member handbook.
  10. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
  11. Assist other beverage personnel as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of liquor regulations regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Hold a current Food Handler Card.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic math skills for operating cash registers, making change, and understanding portion sizes.
  • Basic English skills for completing requisitions and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity for handling tools, glassware, and stock.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in basic English.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and promote menu items.
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment such as coffee makers.
Physical Demands
  • Transport up to 30 lbs. frequently throughout the shift.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, reaching, and smiling.
