Bartender
Job Overview: The Bartender is responsible for delivering great food and beverage service to our guests. The Bartender is primarily responsible for taking and making beverage orders for bar patrons as well as service tickets. The Bartender is also responsible for serving bar patrons’ food orders as well as taking payments and preparing for future service periods.
Reports To: General Manager, Managing Partner
Essential Job Duties:
- Greet and seat customers and present menus in a timely manner.
- Make food and beverage recommendations and answer inquiries related to menu items.
- Verify legal drinking age on valid state issued identification.
- Take beverage and food requests from guest, promptly.
- Upsell drink and food items to customers.
- Promptly respond to requests from customers.
- Prepare checks and process customer payments accurately.
- Promptly bus, clean and reset tables for the awaiting patrons.
- Maintain clean and stocked service stations in the kitchen and in the Tiki Hut.
- Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies.
- Conduct daily and weekly cleaning of service and beverage stations.
- Polish and roll silverware at beginning and end of shift.
- Peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
- Mix and garnish cocktails according to standard specifications.
- Attempt to limit problems related to customers’ excessive drinking by following established procedures.
- Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays.
- Continually clean glasses, bar equipment and work areas.
- Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies.
- Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift, turn in closing paperwork to accounting.
- Restock bar inventory as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry food service trays loaded with customer orders from kitchen to table.
- Ability to effectively communicate with guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Working knowledge of standard restaurant service procedures.
- Capable of completing multiple tasks at the same time.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Must physically be able to walk, stand, bend, stretch, and stoop for extended periods of time throughout shift.
- Must be able to push and pull heavy equipment through workspaces.
- Must be able to compute general mathematical problems.
