Job summary

Locally Grown Restaurants in Anchorage is seeking a Barista/Counter team member for the South Restaurant + Coffeehouse. You will greet guests, take orders, prepare beverages, serve food if needed, and maintain a clean espresso area in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires AM/weekend availability, strong English communication, and attention to detail with POS transactions and cash handling. Join a friendly team focused on quality coffee and guest experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to communicate, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to work, standing and walking, in a fast-paced environment for up to 9 hours.
• Must have a current Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card.
• Must possess basic and accurate cash handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and take orders, make and serve beverages, accept payments, and keep the espresso area clean and organized.
• Provide exemplary customer service at all times and assist in food preparation as needed.
• Work with other staff to keep areas clean and organized, complete opening/closing side work.
• Know POS functions and navigate systems quickly; execute sales transactions accurately.
• Follow drink recipes, demonstrate knowledge of coffee and espresso, and present beverages properly.

Duties are to greet guests and take orders, make and serve beverages, accept payments, and keep the espresso machine area clean and organized. Baristas provide exemplary customer service at all times. They will also be expected to prepare and serve food items as needed.Ability to work in a fast paced and friendly working environment.

Operations

• Works with other staff to ensure their area is clean and organized at all times. Is constantly pre-bussing, picking up trash from the floor, straightening tables and chairs, etc. as needed. Completes all opening & closing side work
• Is timely in all aspects of service; the greeting, beverage orders, and delivery
• Knows all point-of-sale functions and can navigate quickly and efficiently on-screen
• Accurately executes all sales transactions and consistently utilizes restaurant accounting systems
• Follows all drink recipes accurately and consistently
• Displays mastery of coffee and espresso knowledge and technique
• Ensures all beverages are presented properly before delivering to the guests
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all menu items
• Assists in the preparation and service of food items
