Job summary

The Durham is seeking a Barback to support bartenders and ensure top‑quality service in a busy venue in Durham, NC. You will keep the bar stocked, assist with orders, and help maintain cleanliness and inventory control throughout the shift.

This role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Candidates should be able to work flexible hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends, and be 18+ with legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol (state regulation).
• Eagerness to learn and to improve as a barback.
• Passion for hospitality and service.
• Team oriented attitude.
• Strong work ethic.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.
• High School diploma, GED or international equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep the bar fully stocked at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar and its respective areas.
• Put away the liquor/beer deliveries that come in during the day.
• Assist the bartender with anything that they may need.
• Help with punching orders into the POS system, if needed.
• Cut garnishes when low.
• Refill juice bottles, fruit trays, and ice wells.
• Restock liquor bottles and change out beer kegs during shift.
• Replenish napkins, straws, and other counter items.
• Maintain clean towels in each bartender’s station.
• Clean drink spills and sweep broken glassware immediately.
• Take out trash and recycling throughout the shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
