Job summary

The Durham Hotel is seeking a Barback to support the bar team in delivering top quality service. You will help keep the bar stocked, maintain cleanliness, and assist bartenders with inventory and routine tasks.

Requirements include being 18+, eagerness to learn, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. English proficiency and a professional appearance are essential for daily guest interactions.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol (based on state regulations).
• Eagerness to learn and to improve as a barback.
• Passion for hospitality and service.
• Team oriented attitude.
• Strong work ethic.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to work different shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends. Must be able to work overtime as required.
• High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred.
• Good knowledge of the English language is mandatory as well as the ability to speak, read and write clearly.

Responsibilities

• Keep the bar fully stocked at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the bar and its respective areas.
• Put away the liquor/beer deliveries that come in during the day.
• Assist the bartender with anything that they may need.
• Help with punching orders into the POS system, if needed.
• Cut garnishes when low.
• Refill juice bottles, fruit trays, and ice wells.
• Restock liquor bottles and change out beer kegs during shift.
• Replenish napkins, straws, and other counter items.
• Maintain clean towels in each bartender’s station.
• Clean drink spills and sweep broken glassware immediately.
• Take out trash and recycling throughout the shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
