Job summary

IX Art Park in Charlottesville seeks an experienced Bar & Museum Operations Manager to lead daily bar and immersive museum operations. You will supervise staff, manage inventory, ensure safety and compliance, and act as Manager on Duty during events.

The role blends hospitality excellence with immersive art programming. Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in bar or operations management, strong leadership, and familiarity with Square POS, inventory control, and ABC compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in bar, hospitality, or operations management.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a diverse team in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with POS systems (Square preferred), inventory management, and event oversight.
• Working knowledge of ABC compliance, health codes, and safety protocols.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• TIPS and Crowd Management certification (or ability to obtain).
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and during events.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Bar Operations including opening/closing and staff updates.
• Maintain bar/kitchen cleanliness and health compliance.
• Manage weekly inventory, orders, and vendor deliveries.
• Record-keeping in POS and cash handling procedures.
• Ensure ABC compliance and staff certifications.
• Collaborate with marketing/creative for seasonal drinks and programming.
• Oversee Museum Operations, ensuring a welcoming environment and staff supervision.
• Ensure staff complete opening/closing duties and safety protocols.
• Support inclusivity and accessibility in the space.
• Manage non-beverage supplies inventory and signage.
• Prepare MOD briefings for events and rentals; manage vendor logistics.
• Monitor crowd flow, coordinate with security, and respond to emergencies.
• Post-event breakdown and space reset.
• Hire/onboard staff; provide coaching and feedback; run trainings.
• Review sales, costs, and inventory records with leadership.
• Help update staff handbook and emergency plans.
