The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa in Portland, ME is seeking a dependable Part-Time Banquet Houseman to support our banquet and events team. You will set up, break down, and maintain banquet spaces to ensure a welcoming and professional environment for guests.

Responsibilities include arranging AV and room setups, stocking supplies, serving breaks, and ensuring rooms are clean and secure during events. English communication and physical reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks with limited supervision.

• Familiarity with audiovisual equipment and a willingness to learn hotel event technology.
• Professional appearance and a guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English at an upper-intermediate level.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent lifting, moving furniture and equipment, standing, walking, and repetitive movements.
• Dependability and flexibility to work a schedule based on event and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down banquet and function rooms, including tables, chairs, linens, room signage, and audiovisual (AV) equipment.
• Prepare meeting and event spaces according to event specifications and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Stock function rooms with glassware, notepads, pens, refreshments, and other necessary supplies.
• Refresh meeting rooms and deliver scheduled beverage, snack, and food service breaks.
• Arrange food and beverage displays attractively and professionally.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout function rooms, banquet closets, linen storage, and AV storage areas.
• Vacuum rooms before setup and ensure all spaces are clean and presentable throughout events.
• Monitor banquet equipment and supplies, promptly reporting missing, damaged, or malfunctioning items.
• Identify maintenance concerns and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor or department.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, assisting with event needs and troubleshooting when a supervisor is unavailable.
• Review weekly schedules, arrive on time in full uniform with name tag, and communicate with the Event Manager or Banquet Captain regarding daily assignments.
• Carry and use the designated banquet radio during shifts and follow key checkout and return procedures.
• Ensure banquet rooms and storage areas are secured, lights are turned off, and keys are returned to the Front Desk before leaving.
