Job summary

The Lodge at Schroon Lake, part of Olympia Hospitality, is hiring a seasonal team member through mid-November to gain hands-on hospitality experience in a beautiful resort setting.

Pay rate is $16.00 per hour plus gratuities, with a supportive, values-driven workplace that prioritizes health, growth, and teamwork. Responsibilities include banquet setup, guest service, and event support to ensure memorable dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Serving or setup experience preferred; must be of legal age to serve alcohol per state law.
• Strong customer service mindset and guest-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with banquet setup, arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decorations per event specs.
• Ensure equipment, utensils, silverware, and AV gear are clean and properly arranged and functional.
• Greet guests and escort to tables, assisting with seating as needed.
• Take food and beverage orders using suggestive selling to promote items or upgrades.
• Serve meals and drinks promptly according to service standards.
• Anticipate guests' needs and provide personalized attention for a memorable dining experience.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve issues with empathy and professionalism.
• Clear and reset tables, replenish supplies, and maintain a clean dining area throughout events.
• Assist with event breakdown and post-event cleaning to close out spaces.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup of banquet rooms and event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and decorations according to event specifications.
• Ensure that all necessary equipment, utensils, and silverware are clean, polished, and properly arranged, and that audiovisual equipment and lighting are set up and operational.
• Greet guests warmly upon arrival, escort them to their assigned tables, and provide assistance with seating as needed.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests, using suggestive selling techniques to promote additional items or upgrades.
• Serve food and beverages to guests promptly and accurately, following established service standards and presentation guidelines.
• Anticipate guests' needs and preferences and provide personalized service and attention to ensure a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, and resolve any issues or complaints with empathy and professionalism.
• Clear tables, remove used dishes and utensils, and replenish supplies as needed throughout the event to ensure a clean and orderly dining environment.
• Assist with event breakdown and cleanup tasks, including removing linens, folding chairs, and dismantling decorations.
• Complete post-event cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in banquet areas.

Skills Required

• Provide high-level customer service, communicate effectively with guests and team members, follow instructions, ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure when working under pressure.

Experience / Education

• Serving and or set up experience preferred; must be of legal age in order to serve alcohol, per state law.
