The Retreat on Charleston Peak is seeking professional, energetic, and guest-focused Banquet Servers to join our Food & Beverage team. Banquet Servers play an important role in creating memorable experiences for guests attending weddings, conferences, meetings, celebrations, corporate functions, and other special events.


The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing exceptional hospitality. Banquet Servers must work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a professional and welcoming presence throughout each event.


Position Summary

A Banquet Server is responsible for assisting with the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events. This position prepares event spaces according to banquet event orders and service standards; sets and clears tables; serves food and beverages; responds to guest requests; and helps ensure each event is completed efficiently and professionally.


Banquet Servers are expected to provide attentive, courteous, and timely service while maintaining cleanliness, organization, safety, and a high standard of guest satisfaction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist with the setup and preparation of banquet rooms, meeting spaces, dining areas, and event venues according to event specifications and banquet event orders.

  • Review event details, menus, service expectations, seating arrangements, special requests, and assigned responsibilities before each event.

  • Greet guests warmly and provide professional, attentive, and courteous service.

  • Serve food and beverages accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with hotel and banquet service standards.

  • Carry and serve trays, plates, glassware, and other service items safely and professionally.

  • Monitor guest tables and respond promptly to requests for assistance, additional items, or beverage service.

  • Communicate guest requests, dietary restrictions, food allergies, and special accommodations to the appropriate supervisor or kitchen team.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance throughout the event.

  • Clear used dishes, glassware, utensils, and other service items promptly while minimizing disruption to guests.

  • Replenish beverages, table settings, buffet items, and service supplies as needed.

  • Assist with buffet setup, food presentation, replenishment, and breakdown when assigned.

  • Coordinate closely with banquet captains, event managers, kitchen staff, bartenders, and other team members to ensure smooth event operations.

  • Follow all hotel policies, food-safety practices, sanitation standards, and workplace safety procedures.

  • Maintain awareness of event timing and assist with transitions between courses, presentations, meetings, and scheduled activities.

  • Address guest concerns professionally and notify a supervisor when additional assistance is needed.

  • Assist with the complete breakdown and cleanup of event spaces following each function.

  • Remove linens, clear tables, return equipment, dispose of waste properly, and restore event areas according to hotel procedures.

  • Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and storing banquet equipment and supplies when necessary.

  • Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, spills, maintenance concerns, or other operational issues to management promptly.

  • Follow all responsible alcohol-service requirements and applicable laws when serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by banquet management or hotel leadership.


Qualifications


  • Previous banquet, restaurant, hotel, catering, or customer-service experience is preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow event instructions.

  • Ability to remain organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to follow directions and maintain service standards.

  • Food-handler certification may be required based on local or state regulations.

  • Alcohol-service certification may be required for employees assigned to serve alcoholic beverages.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to safely carry trays, plates, glassware, food, beverages, and banquet supplies.

  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.

  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor event environments and in varying temperatures.

  • Ability to work efficiently during busy events and extended service periods.


Schedule and Availability

Banquet events may take place during mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other nontraditional hours. Candidates must have flexible availability and be able to work shifts based on event schedules and business needs.
