Job Overview

Under general supervision, provides prompt and courteous food service to customers. Sets up, serves, and breaks down assigned functions in a safe, accident-free manner.

Responsibilities

• Read BEO and know how to complete a set-up.
• Set tables in assigned area correctly and uniformly.
• Keep station neat and clean while servicing guests per established policies and procedures.
• Use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray breakdown for buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
• Assist Lead Banquet Server in setting up and breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
• Greet and serve guests following policies and procedures regarding food and beverage service.
• Follow all guest check and money-handling procedures when serving à la carte and beverage orders.
• Complete assigned sidework.
• Remain attentive to customers throughout the dining experience, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
• Work flexible shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel locally for outside catering functions only.

Qualifications

• Education/Formal Training: High school education or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous experience in a similar position of 3 months or longer.
• Knowledge/Skills: Basic knowledge of customer service principles, food service functions, and restaurant and kitchen operations.

• Lifting trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc., 20-40 lbs.
• Pushing carts, Queen Marys, hotbox, portable bar, 50-100 lbs.
• Carrying trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc., using both hands at 20-40 lbs.
• Ability to punch buttons, grasp items, and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
• Bending and kneeling to lower cabinets and lift trays.
• Mobility to maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests.
• Continuous standing to service guest functions; 100% of scheduled time.
• Climbing approximately 12 steps, 20% of an 8-hour shift.
• No driving required.
• Moderate comprehension and literacy to read records and special requests.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
• Highly organized with attention to detail in crowded and noisy situations.
• Use tact and understanding in customer service issues, including stressful situations.
• Physically strenuous: prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying in indoor environments, including freezer temperatures of -10 degrees.
