Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Albany in Albany, NY is seeking a part-time Banquet Server to join the catering team. You will read BEOs, set up buffets, greet guests, and serve menu items with precision to match dining pace.

The role requires basic reading, writing, and math skills, good customer service and interpersonal communication, and the ability to stand and walk for long periods. Weekend and holiday availability is often required.

Responsibilities

• Read a BEO and complete setup based on information contained therein.
• Assist captain in setting up buffet and other special food service as needed.
• Greet and serve guests.
• Serve menu items to guests promptly according to the banquet event order and dining pace.
• Pre- and post-shift side work; setup, condiments, etc.
• Clear tables after service; remove trays to kitchen for cleaning.
• Respond to guest inquiries and report special requests promptly to ensure satisfaction.
• Notify Captain or Supervisor before leaving the floor or banquet service area.
• Set-up, land breakdown banquet bars, as assigned.

Banquet Server provides guests in the catering department with the highest standards of food and beverage service at all functions. Reports directly to the Banquet Captain. Job requirements include basic reading, writing, and math skills; food service experience with general knowledge of banquet operations; knowledge of different table settings and styles of service; and good customer service and interpersonal communications skills. Physical requirements include walking and standing for the majority of each shift; carrying and lifting items (i.e.. plates, utensils, trays, tables) frequently.

Job Duties Include, but not limited to:

• Be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup based on information contained therein.
• Assist captain in setting up buffet and other special food service as needed.
• Greet and serve guests.
• Serves menu items to guest in a prompt and courteous manner and according to the banquet event order; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guest.
• Performs pre- and post-shift side work; set-up, condiments, etc.
• Clears tables after service. Removes trays of dirty dishes, silverware and glassware to kitchen for cleaning.
• Responds to guest inquiries and reports special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notifies supervisor of guest complaints or unusual situations.
• Always notify the Captain or Supervisor before leaving the floor or banquet service area.
• Set-up, land breakdown banquet bars, as assigned according to standard policies and procedures.
