Job summary

UCLA Catering is seeking a Banquet Houseperson to prepare rooms for meetings and conferences, both on campus and offsite. You will set up, transport, and store all meeting room equipment and furniture, ensuring cleanliness, proper configuration, and client satisfaction.

You may assist with AV setup and must follow safety and sanitation rules at all times. The role requires strong guest service, teamwork, and the ability to handle a high-volume environment, with flexible scheduling including

Qualifications

• Read, understand and speak English sufficiently to perform duties.
• Interact with guests and staff in a high-volume setting with professionalism.
• Engage with diverse populations respectfully and effectively.
• Read, write, and perform basic calculations to configure room sets.
• Work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Adapt to fluctuating workloads and interruptions.
• Know safety and sanitation rules for food service and meetings.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Remain calm when facing challenges or unhappy guests.
• Troubleshoot basic audio-visual issues when needed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange meeting rooms for events and conferences on campus and off-campus.
• Set up, transport, stock, and store all equipment and furniture; ensure cleanliness and configuration.
• Address client needs, assist with room changes, and resolve simple issues.
• Troubleshoot basic AV problems and coordinate with staff as required.
• Comply with safety, fire, and sanitation policies and university regulations.
