Job summary

The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel is hiring a Banquet Captain to lead the banquet team for large events at the Athens campus. The role focuses on event set-up, running events, guiding staff, and maintaining department standards.

This 40-hour-per-week position requires flexible availability including weekends and holidays. Salary is advertised as $35,200 - $42,200 with benefits and career growth within UGA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in setting up events including moving tables, setting tables and chairs, staging, podiums, buffet set-up, bar set-up, and equipment for speakers.
• Follow operational standards that exceed our customers’ expectations for cleanliness, food presentation, and quality.
• Complete all necessary work for future banquet events.
• Ensure all meeting and event rooms are prepared for clients/guests a minimum of 2 hours prior to contracted time.
• Read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and planning sheets from Banquet management team.
• Clean up after the function: sweep, mop, clear dishes, and store equipment properly.
• Handle cash/credit cards at times.
