Job summary

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square is seeking a Banquet Houseperson to ensure flawless function setups and responsive service. You will adjust to last-minute changes and support the Banquet Team with tables, chairs, linens, and AV coordination to meet guest expectations.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow banquet event orders, and physical stamina for standing and lifting. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous banquet experience is an asset.
• Ability to take direction and read banquet event orders.
• Excellent follow through of tasks and attention to detail.
• Physically fit to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Flexibility to work additional hours as required; including shift work, weekends, public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Set up tables, chairs, dance floors, staging linens and assist with tabletop setup as directed.
• Ensure line by line delivery on Banquet Event Order requirements.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of banquet spaces and storage.
• Follow service essentials at all times.
• Partner with Banquet Team and AV vendors to ensure seamless delivery and set-up.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

With a keen eye for detail, The Banquet Houseperson ensures the room is set perfectly for each function exceeding guest's expectations. You are adaptable and can assist clients with all last-minute changes. The position requires a service professional with excellent organizational, technical, and communication skills.

What you will be doing:

• Set up tables, chairs, dance floors, staging linens and assist with tabletop setup as directed
• Ensure line by line delivery on Banquet Event Order requirements
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of banquet spaces and storage
• Follow service essentials at all times
• Partner with Banquet Team and AV vendors to ensure seamless delivery and set-up
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Aspects of Position include (but not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
