Job summary

The Fairmont Washington, D.C, Georgetown is seeking a Banquet Server - On Call to deliver warm, welcoming service and assist with banquet functions in a fast-paced luxury setting.

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, you will educate guests about menus, maintain beverage knowledge, and ensure smooth service across events while upholding safety and sanitation standards. On-call shifts include weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Banquet serving experience preferred.
• Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.

Banquet Server - On Call

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Server is responsible for offering individual warm and welcoming service by paying attention to the guests needs and looking for every opportunity to Wow and delight the guest with your knowledge and service levels. Serves meals for banquet functions.

Range of Pay: $11.00 - 12.00 per hour plus tips

What you will be doing:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service


• Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way


• Serve all food and beverage items for assigned banquet meetings


• Have full knowledge of beverage lists and all menu items being served


• Follow departmentpolicies and procedures


• Follow established service guidelines and practices for each individual event.


• Demonstrate the expected standards of table service and wine/ beverage knowledge.


• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage


• Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course with the needed Mise en place.


• Maintain a positive service attitude at all times and be willing to help and advise guests with all questions and requests they may have


• Available to work varied shifts based on business demands, including but not limited to, weekends and holidays


• Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Previous banquet serving experience is preferred. Basic liquor and wine knowledge required


• Available to work varied shifts based on business demands, including but not limited to, weekends and holidays, early mornings, late evenings


• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times


• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities, highly reliable and responsible


• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment


• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team


• Minimum of one-year experience as a server in a fine dining restaurant is preferred


• Excellent communication and organizational skills


• High energy level; friendly; outgoing; team player, good salesmanship


• ServSafe Food Handlers certification an asset


• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift


• Must be able to lift, carry, reach, push/pull at least 50lbs


• Frequently bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting


• Occasional descending or ascending ladders, stairs and ramps
