Job summary

Fairmont Washington, D.C., Georgetown is seeking a Banquet Server - On Call to deliver professional, warm and engaging service at banquet events in a fast-paced luxury setting.

In this role, you will assist guests with menu items, knowledge of beverages, and maintain impeccable table service standards, while supporting the banqueting team. Availability for varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, is required; prior banquet experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous banquet serving experience is preferred, basic liquor and wine knowledge required.
• Able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain composure and courteous demeanor under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• High energy, outgoing team player with sales mindset.
• ServSafe certification a plus; must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Serve all food and beverage items for assigned banquet meetings
• Have full knowledge of beverage lists and all menu items being served
• Follow department policies and procedures
• Follow established service guidelines for each event
• Demonstrate the expected standards of table service and wine/beverage knowledge
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
• Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course with Mise en place
• Maintain a positive service attitude and assist guests with requests
• Available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Complete other duties as assigned

Banquet Server - On Call

Reporting to the Banquet Manager, the Banquet Server is responsible for offering individual warm and welcoming service by paying attention to the guests needs and looking for every opportunity to Wow and delight the guest with your knowledge and service levels. Serves meals for banquet functions.

Range of Pay: $11.00 - 12.00 per hour plus tips

What you will be doing:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service

• Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

• Previous banquet serving experience is preferred. Basic liquor and wine knowledge required
• Available to work varied shifts based on business demands, including but not limited to, weekends and holidays, early mornings, late evenings
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities, highly reliable and responsible
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team
• Minimum of one-year experience as a server in a fine dining restaurant is preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• High energy level; friendly; outgoing; team player, good salesmanship
• ServSafe Food Handlers certification an asset
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Must be able to lift, carry, reach, push/pull at least 50lbs
• Frequently bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
• Occasional descending or ascending ladders, stairs and ramps
