Job summary

The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama is seeking a Banquet Cook to prepare culinary items with attention to appearance and quality. You will work at the pantry, fry stations or other kitchen areas, ensuring food safety and high standards for guests and hotel events.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with culinary training preferred, and 3–6 months in food/beverage service.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Culinary certificate or degree preferred.
• Three to six months in a food/beverage services environment.
• Strong knowledge of operating industrial sized ovens and cooking ranges.
• Knowledge of preparing different types of cuisines, relishes, soups and salads.
• Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Understanding of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
• Able to read, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards, use records, production and portion standards, per order specs.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, avoiding over-preparation.
• Remember multiple orders and assemble them accurately.
• Date and rotate perishables; maintain proper temperatures; check pars for shift use.
• Assist in keeping buffet stocked and manage out-of-stock items.
• Return unused food to storage with proper labeling and dating.
• Assist in identifying and addressing food cost issues; help reduce waste.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
