Job summary

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Hawaii seeks a Banquet Captain to lead a team during events across ballrooms and meeting spaces. You will coordinate with Food & Beverage, supervise setup, and ensure exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Leadership capabilities and strong communication skills.
• Ability to focus on guest needs and remain calm and courteous at all times.
• Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• Fluency in other languages or basic understanding of local languages is an advantage.
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Detail‑oriented and service‑oriented with strong self‑motivation and energy.
• Provide the necessary State and Federal requirements to work in Food and Beverage (Tuberculosis Clearance).
• Additional certifications in Food & Beverage (Blue Liquor Card) are an advantage.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Act as a leader, mentor, and project a positive influence in Food & Beverage.
• Effectively communicate with external departments to support food & beverage functions.
• Ensure a positive first impression through detailed cleanliness, set‑up, and ambiance control.
• Check room sets, confirm quantities with the Banquet Chef, verify china/glassware/linen, communicate staffing and inventory needs.
• Conduct pre‑function meetings to ensure staff personal hygiene and appearance standards, allocate stations, and review banquet event orders.
• Communicate with meeting planners about last‑minute instructions or changes.
• Be aware of upcoming groups and conventions over the next 90 days and review assigned work for the day and week.
• Read banquet menus and clarify items as needed; complete all daily administrative tasks.
