Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking a Banquet Captain in Hartford, CT to coordinate banquet service, lead staff, and ensure seamless event execution at The Bushnell venue. Qualifications

• Knowledge of banquet operations, service standards, and event execution.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and event teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to guide and support staff, including pre-shift meetings and assigning responsibilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on events.

Responsibilities

• Reviews assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
• Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance, hygiene, and station assignments.
• Communicates with Executive Chef and event coordinator to confirm details and timing.
• Ensures quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available.
• Checks room setup and confirms food quantities and timing with kitchen leadership.
• Ensures proper handling and storage of equipment after use.
• Conducts random audits to evaluate food and service quality and upsell opportunities.
• Maintains schedule awareness and adheres to safety and sanitation standards.
• Performs other duties as required.
