Job summary

Job description

BakeChop Catering & Events is looking for an experienced Banquet Captain / Event Lead to help lead weddings, private events, corporate events, and off site catering. The jobs home base is Venue 142, 142 N Woodland Blvd. DeLand, FL

This is a hands on leadership position for someone who understands that great events come down to service, organization, communication, and attention to detail.

We are looking for someone with a high level of hospitality and service standards who can not only execute those standards themselves, but also teach and reinforce them with the team.

WHAT WE’R LOOKING FOR

• Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or event leadership experience
• Comfortable managing and directing employees throughout an event
• Able to work closely with event coordinators, chefs, bartenders, servers, and clients
• Comfortable reading and executing from BEOs and event timelines
• Strong bartending experience and comfortable jumping behind the bar when needed
• Strong understanding of professional service and dining etiquette
• Comfortable teaching proper service standards to other team members
• Excellent communication and guest service skills
• Able to anticipate needs and solve problems quickly without disrupting the guest experience
• Comfortable driving catering vans and transporting event equipment
• Able to assist with loading, unloading, setup, service, breakdown, and event cleanup
• Organized, dependable, professional, and detail oriented
• Comfortable leading a team while still jumping in and working alongside them

SERVICE & ETIQUETTE MATTER

This position requires someone who understands the details of elevated hospitality.

You should be comfortable with proper table service, guest interaction, event presentation, professional etiquette, and maintaining service standards throughout an event.

Just as importantly, you need to be able to coach and teach those standards to the team around you.

SCHEDULE

Catering is not a traditional Monday through Friday job.

Events happen days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and timelines can change depending on the event.

We are looking for someone with open and flexible availability throughout the week who understands that event schedules may run earlier or later than originally planned.

Flexibility is a huge part of being successful in this role.

THE ROLE

As Banquet Captain / Event Lead, you will help take an event from setup through breakdown.

You’ll review the BEO and timeline, communicate with the event coordinator and culinary team, organize staff, assign responsibilities, oversee service, assist with bartending when needed, maintain presentation and service standards, troubleshoot throughout the event, and make sure the team finishes strong.

We need someone who can lead the room, stay calm under pressure, take care of the client, and keep the team moving.
