Embassy Suites Portland Airport:

Located on Airport Way, offering 251 suites and 20,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, close to Portland International Airport and public transportation.

Position Summary:

The Banquet Captain ensures excellent guest experiences by planning and executing banquet service details. Ideal candidates enjoy making connections, leading events, and stepping up to challenges.

Work Performed:

• Direct setup of tables with proper linens, silverware, china, and glassware.
• Ensure table complements are clean and filled.
• Plan and coordinate serving order efficiently and courteously.
• Prepare servers for meal service.
• Set up and break down coffee breaks, receptions, and special functions.
• Communicate with guest contacts regarding needs.
• Set up, operate, and dismantle audio-visual equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of AV equipment.
• Perform duties of Banquet Associate and Bartender as needed.
• Assist with staffing, training, and inventory management.
• Ensure service standards are met and take corrective actions when necessary.
• Guide and motivate banquet staff.
• Follow safety policies and report incidents.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous customer service experience required.
• Minimum six months banquet food service experience preferred.
• Prior leadership experience is a plus.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Oregon Food Handlers and OLCC Alcohol certifications required or completed within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, squat, walk, and stand for long periods.

Other Requirements:

• Flexible schedule including days, mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
