Overview of the role
The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading and ensuring successful event and food & beverage operations at Trilith Guesthouse. This is a full-time position, expected to manage hotel F&B outlet operations as needed and during periods of event downtime.
What you have
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years Banquet Manager experience in an upper, upscale or luxury hotel environment
- Minimum 5 years as a salaried manager in the hospitality field
- At least 3 years of experience in a Banquet Leadership role in a high-volume, high-end establishment
- Marriott CI experience preferred
- Prior lifestyle hotel or resort-related experience a plus
What you'll do
- Understand the impact of banquet operations on the overall success of the hotel and manage the banquet team and operations to maximize customer satisfaction
- Provide memorable experiences and takeaways at every event touchpoint
- Assist with managing outlet operations for the restaurant and two bars
- Lead shifts and actively participate in servicing events and F&B operations
- Conduct daily huddles to inform the team of hotel happenings, announcements, and specials
- Ensure team is in proper uniform/attire
- Project supply needs for the department (china, glass, silver, buffet props)
- Apply knowledge of all laws related to events
- Adhere to and reinforce standards, policies, and procedures
- Challenge creativity in trends and setup
- Maintain sanitation standards
- Manage departmental inventories and equipment
- Use banquet beverage records to control liquor costs and manage inventory
- Schedule banquet staff to forecast service standards and maximize profits
- Develop relationships with groups to retain business and foster growth
- Set goals and delegate tasks to improve performance
- Conduct monthly department meetings
- Broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current trends
- Act as liaison to kitchen staff
- Set a positive example for guest relations
- Interact with guests for feedback and handle complaints
- Empower team members to deliver excellent service
- Ensure team understands expectations and parameters
- Focus on continuous service improvement
- Review guest satisfaction results with the team
- Communicate and execute emergency procedures and train staff accordingly
- Observe service behaviors and provide feedback
- Participate in developing corrective actions and service improvements
- Attend relevant meetings
