Job summary

Brock & Scott, PLLC is seeking a Bankruptcy Analyst I in Winston-Salem to monitor bankruptcy processes from filing to release. You will handle notices, claims, fee notices, reaffirmation agreements, and reconciliations in a shared service environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with bankruptcy/insolvency legal services preferred but not required; law firm or in-house loan servicing experience is acceptable.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook; comfortable with loan documentation and bankruptcy processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with outside counsel to determine appropriate actions and prepare Agreed Orders.
  • Assess bankrupt accounts considering chapter, delinquency, and debtor intent while meeting court deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of pre- and post-petition amounts due and review Proofs of Claim.
  • Review Notices of Payment Change, Plan Reviews/Objections, and Post Petition Fee Notices for accuracy.
  • Prepare and send reaffirmation agreements; reconcile pre- and post-petition payments and balances.
  • Maintain bankruptcy data in servicing platforms and ensure proper case status and document filing.
  • Adhere to FDCPA and internal policies; collaborate with team to support loss mitigation where needed.

Description

The Bankruptcy Analyst I is responsible for ensuring the bankruptcy process is monitored and associated tasks are completed accurately and timely from the time of filing through to release. This position will perform activities related to bankrupt accounts including but not limited to processing new notices, discharges, Proof of Claim, Notice of Payment Change, Notice of Post-Petition Fee, Plan Review/Objection, preparing reaffirmation agreements, perform reconciliations, and case closures in a shared service environment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Works with outside counsel to investigate and decide on appropriate courses of action, provide additional documentation, draft pencil ledgers, and approve Agreed Orders
  • Makes decisions on bankrupt accounts based on numerous variables including chapter, delinquency status, and debtor intent while meeting court specified deadlines
  • Ensures proper calculation of pre and post-petition amounts due
  • Review and approves required Proofs of Claims to be filed in the bankruptcy courts
  • Review and approves required Notices of Payment Change
  • Review and approves required Plan Review/Objections
  • Review and approves required Post Petition Fee Notices
  • Prepares, sends, and follows up on reaffirmation agreements
  • Reconcile pre-petition and post-petition payments and balances
  • Performs periodic audits of customer charges and payments
  • Daily maintenance of bankrupt loans in the servicing platform ensuring correct status
  • Daily maintenance in bankruptcy software (Pacer, Banko, etc) to ensure proper follow-up on case status and document filing
  • Daily record retention
  • Reconciles trustee checks
  • Loads case information into the system of record
  • Remains current with bankruptcy laws as well as state and investor guidelines to best protect the interest of Freedom Mortgage
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and controls, investor guidelines, and governmental regulations
  • Works with outside counsel, debtors, and debtor attorneys negotiating alternative payment schedules for delinquent accounts, coordinating loss mitigation efforts, or reaffirmation agreements
  • Compliance with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
  • Work in collaboration and partnership with other team members

Position Requirements
  • Previous experience with bankruptcy/insolvency legal services preferred but must have law firm or in-house loan servicing experience
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Must be familiar with loan documentation and or, Bankruptcy proceedings/Mortgage Servicing proceedings
  • Work with a sense of urgency
  • Must be able to meet strict deadlines and adhere to client metrics
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work with different personalities and methods.
  • Excel, Word and Outlook proficiency

Compensation Details

$22.00-$25.00/hr.

The compensation amount is not guaranteed. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate. This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position, however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, and qualifications.

  • Brock & Scott, PLLC offers an attractive benefit package to full-time employees on the 1st of the following month of hire.
  • The insurance portion includes medical, dental, voluntary life, voluntary vision, and critical illness, all at competitive rates.
  • At the 90-day introductory period, the Firm also provides a basic life insurance policy in the amount of one time your annual salary (with a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $200,000.00) at no cost.
  • Full-time employees receive paid holidays, including six (6) firm-recognized holidays and one (1) Day of Observance, as well as a PTO package of 14 days per year.
  • PTO accrues monthly and is credited on the 15th of each month, in accordance with firm policy.
  • PTO benefits increase after 2 years of employment and again after 5 years of employment.
  • After six months of service, employees over the age of 21 become eligible to participate in the firm's 401(k) plan at the beginning of the next quarter.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment with Brock & Scott, PLLC is contingent upon the successful completion of all required pre‑employment screenings and verifications, which may include, but are not limited to, a criminal background check, conflict of interest check, employment and education verification (as applicable), and a pre‑employment drug screening. Drug testing is conducted only after a conditional offer of employment has been extended and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
