Job summary

Payoneer is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer based in New York, NY or Miami, FL to anchor the bank's engineering org and architect core transactional systems. You will own the integration between the core banking ledger and the stablecoin issuance engine, ensuring bank-grade accuracy and OCC-ready documentation.

The role requires 12+ years in software engineering and 5+ years architecting high-integrity systems, with Kubernetes and IaC experience in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture of high-integrity transactional systems.
• Deep understanding of event-driven architecture, exactly-once processing, idempotency, and large-scale reconciliation.
• Cloud-native infrastructure experience with Kubernetes and IaC in regulated environments.
• Audit-grade engineering with immutable logs, reconciliation controls, and evidence generation.
• Proven track record mentoring senior engineers and delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Ability to produce regulator-ready system architecture documentation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build the bank's core backend, including microservices, persistent schemas, event endpoints, and internal APIs for OCC readiness.
• Design reconciliation between fiat subledger, reserve accounts, and on-chain token supply; secure event messaging for mint/burn actions.
• Provide technical leadership for the Core Backend team with strict standards for reviews, testing, observability, and deployment.
• Integrate automated sanctions screening with auditable escalation hooks.
• Collaborate with SRE on multi-region availability, failover targets, and real-time ledger alerts.
• Support audit readiness activities including UAT, feature freezes, and external control validation.
