Job summary

Mechanics Bank is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our on-site team in California. The role focuses on accurate teller transactions, high-quality customer service, and referrals for banking products. You will balance cash, assist with account maintenance, and uphold regulatory compliance.

We value attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced branch environment. Prior banking experience and strong interpersonal skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a banking environment with basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services preferred.
• 1 year in customer service and cash handling experience in a customer facing role required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer service.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as a team member.
• Ability to make decisions using information available.
• Basic knowledge of Bank deposit products and services.
• Ability to understand customer loan requests and make appropriate referrals.
• Ability to understand customer requests for additional services and make appropriate referrals.
• Ability to make customers aware of additional products and services and make appropriate referrals.
• Knowledge of applicable Bank policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Transaction Processing: performs routine teller transactions and processes deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and mail/night drop items.
• Customer Services & Sales: delivers exemplary service and informs customers about rates, services charges, and referrals.
• Cash Handling & Security: maintains cash balance and follows cash handling policies; detects red flags and guides customers to appropriate departments.
• Administrative & Compliance Tasks: processes reports to ensure compliance and assists with branch audits.
