Job summary

Assistance Technique Internationale (ATI) is seeking a skilled production operator to load and process billets, ingots and shapes using band saws, grinders, cranes and forklifts in a safe, efficient manner.

You will follow established procedures, read work orders, verify alloy content, maintain inventory and perform routine maintenance while ensuring quality and traceability on-site in Monroe, NC.

Qualifications

• General high school diploma or GED required.
• Able to read and follow written procedures.
• Able to properly use measuring devices and gauges.
• Must maintain IME certification by fulfilling all requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate band saw to cut a variety of materials following established methods and procedures.
• Operate grinder to grind material to meet procedures.
• Work from mill orders and procedures to cut billets, ingots, bars, shapes to specified lengths.
• Inspect billets and ensure alloy verification and stamped identity are clear and legible.
• Maintain inventory on a variety of supply items and perform basic maintenance.

• Operate band saw to cut variety of materials following established methods and procedures.
• Operate grinder to grind a variety of material to meet requirements of procedures.
• Work from mill orders and procedures to cut billets, ingots, bars, shapes and other material to specified lengths, and/or cut material sample from products for metallurgical use.
• Stamp or mark and identify all pieces of material following established procedures and practices.
• Operate crane and fork lift truck to load and secure material on cut off beds and set for proper cut length. Operate as necessary to cut off prescribed sections according to procedures. Mark and stamp discarded according to procedures and practices for use.
• Grind billets to desired finish.
• Change band saw blades and grinding wheels, maintain adequate cooling supply.
• Check coolant using refractometer and do conversion to determine coolant concentration.
• Comply with prescribed safety regulations and keep area clean.
• Calculate pounds per inch to determine final lengths.
• Order and maintain parts.
• Perform all maintenance.
• Schedule saw to provide all furnaces with material to operate.
• Inspect billets to determine what needs to be cleared.
• Maintain inventory on a variety of supply items.
• Create new documents for record keeping as needed.
• Final inspection
• Perform alloy verification to assure ingot matches alloy and assure that the stamped identity is clear and legible
• Unloading incoming D-Rounds and maintain storage areas.
• Perform other duties as required or directed by work leader or supervisor.
