The Ballet and Dance Instructor is expected to have a high level of knowledge and formal training in areas such as Martial Arts, Gymnastics, Synchronized Swimming, Dance, Golf, Tennis, or Birthday Parties. The instructor will support and encourage students in learning specific progressive or competitive programs, officiate appropriately for their age and experience, and ensure safety and cleanliness in the program area in accordance with YMCA standards.

Qualifications for our Kid Zone Team Member:

• Some college education or equivalent
• 3-5 years of specialized sports experience
• Ability to work sensitively with others and maintain a positive coaching style
• Ability to perform activities requiring sustained concentration and attention
• Physical ability to assist and spot participants, understanding athlete development

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting YMCA sports program instruction per YMCA standards
• Ensuring adherence to YMCA standards and quality
• Providing a safe environment for learning
• Encouraging and supporting staff and students
• Modeling YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
• Arriving at least 15 minutes early, being prepared, and communicating any conflicts
• Ensuring participants exit safely and the facility is clean
• Participating as part of the YMCA team to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment
• Providing excellent service and clear communication of YMCA rules
• Managing participant behavior collaboratively with supervision and parents
• Completing incident reports and other documentation promptly
• Following schedules and understanding sport skills for lesson plans
• Using positive support techniques to develop skills
• Attending staff meetings and training sessions
• Performing other related duties as assigned
