Job summary

Montgomery County Community College is seeking part-time Baking & Pastry Arts faculty to teach assigned courses and support curriculum development, assessment, and student advisement. Faculty are encouraged to participate in college service and professional development.

Teaching hours are day-time between 8:00am and 6:00pm; typically one day per week. A PA background check and fingerprint clearances are required prior to start.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in appropriate discipline. Master’s degree or terminal professional degree preferred.
• At least five years of industry experience required, with at least two years of industry management experience.
• Current ServSafe certification required.
• ACF membership and/or another professional association in the area of instruction preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates of all abilities.
• Community College teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to innovative instructional techniques and use of course management systems.
• Commitment to diverse learning styles and information literacy resources.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in Baking & Pastry Arts.
• Participate in course and curriculum development, program and course assessment.
• Advise students and engage in college service and professional development.
• Attend daytime teaching hours (8:00am–6:00pm), typically 1 day per week.

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Baking & Pastry Arts Faculty (Part-time Applicant Pool) position. The Baking & Pastry Arts Faculty position teach assigned courses in a manner that facilitates student learning and mastery of course material. Part Time faculty are encouraged to participate in course and curriculum development, program and course assessment, student advisement, college service, and professional development.

Teaching hours are during the day between 8:00am and 6:00pm; typically 1 day per week.

*This position requires thecandidate to obtain thePA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting clearancesprior to their start date.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in appropriate discipline from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree or terminal professional degree preferred. At least fiveyears of industry experience required, with at least twoyears of industry management experience. Current ServSafe certification required. Current ACF membership and/or membership in another professional association tied to area of instruction preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates of all abilities. Community College teaching experience preferred. Exhibited evidence of continued professional growth and development. Demonstrated commitment to the use of innovative instructional techniques and technologies and use of course management systems. Demonstrated commitment to a variety of teaching activities to address diverse learning styles. Demonstrated commitment to the incorporation of information literacy resources, technology, research, writing and culturally diverse perspectives into the curriculum. Knowledge of competency-based education preferred. Demonstrated commitment to continual assessment of the teaching-learning process. Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as under-resourced groups and first-generation students. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.

Applicant Pools:

Montgomery County Community College maintains applicant pools for Part-Time Teaching Faculty positions. The Part-Time Faculty applicant pools are utilized to gather a pool of interested applicants from which the department coordinator can review and hire as classes become available. Applications will be maintained for three years from the date the application is submitted.
