Job summary

Levain Bakery is seeking a dedicated Shift Lead to supervise bakery operations, assist with ordering, and open/close shifts. You will mentor staff, ensure top‑notch customer service, and uphold safety and quality standards in a fast-paced retail/baking environment.

The role requires 2+ years in food service with supervisory experience, strong communication, reliability, and a customer-forward mindset. Located in Chicago, it offers a competitive hourly rate plus bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of food service, QSR, or retail experience, with 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Open availability: mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have valid DOH Certification and regional food handlers’ certifications.
• Ability to lift/push 25-50 pounds and stand for 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead with curiosity and compassion, mentoring and coaching teammates.
• Set the shift tone with a positive, can-do attitude and teamwork.
• Supervise staff, support challenges, foster a respectful, goal‑oriented culture.
• Provide feedback to identify improvement areas and boost service quality.
• Ensure daily tasks are completed, orders fulfilled, and safety standards met.
• Open/close the bakery as designated; manage cash deposits daily.
• Maintain cleanliness and product quality to Levain standards.
