Bread Furst, a James Beard Award-winning bakery by Mark Furstenberg located in the Van Ness neighborhood of Washington, D.C., is seeking a shift lead or assistant manager. The role involves facilitating closing shifts and managing our specialty retail space.

Our team leads should possess strong leadership skills, uphold high standards, and be warm and genuine with customers and staff. This position is ideal for someone in the restaurant industry seeking to avoid late-night hours. If you have a passion for or knowledge of food or beverages, Bread Furst offers a creative and engaging environment to pursue these interests.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Facilitate a smooth and efficient closing shift of the bakery
• Assist with retail merchandising using strong organizational skills
• Complete all closing tasks to prepare the shop for the next day
• Manage challenges related to customers and staff with good judgment
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and staff

Minimum Requirements:

• Shifts from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM
• Availability on some weekends
• Experience in food service
• Barista or coffee experience preferred
• Customer service skills
• Punctuality
• Flexible schedule
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Lifting up to 35 lbs
