Field Service Technician – Industrial Bakery Equipment

Location: Travel-based (domestic and international)

About the Role:
Reading Bakery Systems, a global leader in industrial baking equipment, is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will travel to customer facilities to install, troubleshoot, and repair bakery equipment including ovens, dryers, cookers, and conveyors. You will work closely with engineers and customers to ensure systems meet production, quality, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial bakery equipment at customer sites

• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and combustion systems

• Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, relay logic, and operator interfaces

• Fabricate and install replacement parts using machining and welding skills

• Calibrate control systems including combustion systems for ovens, cookers, and dryers

• Assist customers remotely with technical support as needed

• Guide customer personnel during equipment installation and alignment

• Complete detailed service reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and company software

• Collaborate with engineering and customer teams to resolve equipment issues

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience

• 3+ years of industrial equipment troubleshooting and repair experience

• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams

• Proficient in TIG, MIG, and stick welding

• Forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain)

• Experience modifying PLC programs

• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures

• Ability to travel extensively, including internationally and for extended periods

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

• Experience servicing Reading Bakery Systems equipment

• Experience troubleshooting combustion systems

Work Environment:

• Frequent domestic and international travel required

• Work in industrial baking plant environments with exposure to high heat, noise, and vibration

• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in various physical positions
