Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking a Bakery Manager in California to lead the bakery department, drive daily baking production, and ensure top-quality products and service. You will manage scheduling, ordering, inventory, displays, and team leadership in a fast-paced store environment.

The role requires 2+ years in retail grocery, strong customer service, and a commitment to food safety and sanitation, with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience.
• Be dependable and reliable with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly with a positive attitude toward team members and customers.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction in a team environment.
• Be able to answer phones and take special orders.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department and sanitize work areas.
• Be able to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Stand for up to 3 hours continuously, and lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
• Adhere to safety and Food Handlers regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Possess knowledge of reports, margins, and financial goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily output of baking, production, and display of bakery products.
• Supervise and monitor product quality, inventory, and budget for the bakery.
• Evaluate conditions to identify strengths and areas for improvement; develop better practices.
• Ensure safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards.
• Handle correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage of bakery items.
• Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays.
• Manage inventory, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other processes to Sprouts standards.
• Plan orders to maximize sales and gross profit.
• Lead coaching, feedback, and development discussions; assist with merit reviews.
• Attend in-store meetings and participate regularly.
• Recruit, hire and promote/transfer decisions with Store Manager.
• Address Team Member concerns with independent judgment and document actions.
• Adjust schedules and staffing to maximize productivity.
• Communicate standards and product knowledge to team members.
• Lead a team to deliver quality products and great customer service.
• Serve as Key Carrier or MOD when needed.
