Job summary

Martin's Super Markets in Elkhart, IN, seeks an experienced Department Lead to manage day-to-day store operations within the department, train associates, ensure staffing and adherence to company standards and KPIs. You will oversee inventory, scheduling, and performance guidance to the team.

The role requires strong communication, leadership and retail knowledge, with proficiency in MS Office and retail systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving, and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with hands-on environment experience.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Spanish speaking ability is desirable depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain inventory in the department, utilizing inventory control procedures to ensure freshness and quality.
• Review received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition, and ensure proper storage.
• Lead a team that stocks, produces, and completes tasks to ensure quality, production planning, accuracy, and rotation; handle spoiled/damaged products per guidelines.
• Maintain familiarity with products carried in the department and store.
• Know ad items, special prices, coupon deals, and store promotions.
• Communicate weekly Flight Plans and assist with scheduling, labor control, and payroll expenses for the department.
• Support the department manager in staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates.
• Ensure adherence to food safety and safety guidelines and store policies.
