Job summary

Pick 'n Save Bakery is seeking a Department Supervisor to lead daily bakery operations, ensure product quality, and deliver outstanding customer service. You will train associates, schedule coverage, and monitor safety standards while maintaining a welcoming, clean bakery environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to food safety, and achievement of department goals, with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to store performance.

Qualifications

• Current food handlers permit once employed
• High school education or equivalent
• Bakery experience

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates while communicating information.
• Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve goals.
• Establish performance goals for department and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume during hours of operation.
• Train and develop associates and participate in performance appraisals.
• Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Create welcoming environment and inform customers of bakery specials.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of bakery products.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests and offer samples.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Use bakery equipment per guidelines (refrigerators, freezers, ovens).
• Partner with management to develop and implement a department business plan.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for sales and merchandising supervisor.
• Stay current with ads and inform associates accordingly.
• Monitor and control department expenses.
• Assist in preparing department budget and review financial reports.
• Schedule price changes and maintain shelf tags.
• Plan, organize and supervise inventory.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and ensure proper temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify maintenance of needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report safety issues including theft or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced environments.
• Manage conflicts constructively.
• Maintain honesty and integrity in handling information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support for minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
