Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Bakery Assistant Department Manager to partner with the Bakery Department Manager to oversee daily production and lead the team. You will train staff, review schedules, and ensure shelves stay stocked with fresh products.

In this role, you will ensure quality, efficiency, and safety while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment at Hy-Vee.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
• Bakery leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and resolving concerns.
• Oversee daily production, set timelines, and assign tasks to bakers and staff.
• Review production lists, organize flow, and adjust schedules as needed.
• Monitor freshness, rotate display product, and maintain stock levels.
• Train new employees and develop bakery team skills.
• Assist with inventory and ordering in the absence of the Department Manager.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to department guidelines.
